5 Card Stud Poker Rules. Each player keeps a hole card which remains secret until the final showdown. Five card stud is sometimes played no limit and pot limit though fixed limit and spread limit games are common with higher limits in the later betting rounds.
The game starts with each player making a forced bet called the ante. 5 card stud starts with each player being dealt two cards. Stud poker however is open with player s cards visible on the table.
Another card is dealt to the remaining player s face up.
Five card stud poker was the first game of its kind. However a rule used by many casinos is that a player is not allowed to draw five consecutive cards from the deck. The highest hand wins. Once this is done the cards are well shuffled and a face down card.
